Today’s economic and political environments have created some serious risks for Supply Management Professionals and their employers. Progressive supply management/procurement professionals recognize the need to manage transactional risks in this increasingly complex business environment. All transactions between a Purchaser and a Seller contain some risks to one or both parties. This is especially true in these challenging economic times. A well written and well managed contract will provide the critical elements necessary to appropriately identify and allocate the risks associated with each transaction. Do you know how to clearly allocate the risks of a purchase/sale in a comprehensive contract?
This webinar will provide valuable insight and tools for identifying and allocating substantive risks in a well written contract. We will review the essential requirements of supplier risk mitigation, and discuss the practical aspects of drafting a quality contract for both the purchasing and sales side of the transaction.
With this practical approach to contract writing, procurement and contracting professionals can immediately provide value to their organization.

What Can We Learn from Hurricane Sandy?
When: Tuesday, December 18, 2012
Speaker Lora Cecere, MBA, CIRM, CPIM; Founder of Supply Chain Insights
Things happen; “Frankenstorms”, though thankfully rare, deliver a one-two punch when they do occur. Real world supply chains must continue because consumers and businesses depend upon their products.
The session focused on the lessons that we can learn from the recent experience of Hurricane Sandy and converging storms in the northeastern United States. Supply chain practices continuously evolve and, as a result of attending this webinar, you will learn the strategies and practices utilized by leading supply chains during the recent “perfect storm”.
1. What strategies and practices were utilized?
2. What worked and what didn’t?
3. Who experienced the most resiliency and why?
4. If the perfect storm occurred again, what lessons learned would be utilized next time?

Deloitte Consulting released a report on risk earlier this month where they surveyed over 600 companies, both manufacturing and retail around supply chain risks. The attached report publicizes the findings and as you read through this, the elements which are generally apparent are:
· Supply chain risk is considered to be a strategic issue
· The most common outcome of supply chain erosion is margin erosion
· A majority of the respondents feel that supply chain risk management is ineffective
· Companies across the board face a wide variety of challenges and lack real technologies to deal with those challenges.
